Max Ostwalt

Herbert Max Ostwalt, 84 of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born, December 25, 1928 in Iredell County he was the son of the late Jesse Dawson Ostwalt, Sr., and Flossie Mae Sowers Ostwalt. Mr. Ostwalt was of the Baptist faith and retired from Toter's. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Jesse Dawson Ostwalt, Jr., Calvin Zane Ostwalt, Sr. and Sam Ostwalt. Mr. Ostwalt is survived by his wife, Carolyn Gordy Ostwalt of the home; a brother, Frank S. Ostwalt and wife Betty of Troutman; a sister, Anna O. "Sissy" Cash and husband Harry of Statesville; a step-daughter, Shari Moore and husband Jeff, a step-son, Rick Thompson and wife Sherrie all of China Grove; four special nieces, Tammy Cash Powell of Troutman, Kaycee, Kristi, and Kammie Powell; two special nephews: Mark Cash and wife Sam, and Todd Cash all of Statesville; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Friday, May 31, 2013 in chapel at Nicholson Funeral Home with the Pastor Fred Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Nicholson Funeral Home.
