Maurice Earl Anderson

Maurice Earl Anderson, 74, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Davie County on July 11, 1941 to the late Charles Roy and Elmina Renegar Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Harmony High School and was married to Grace Creedmore Anderson, who survives. They had over 54 years of marriage before his passing. He was a partner in C.R. Anderson Lumber Company and was owner/operator of Anderson Logging before his retirement. He was Past President of both the North Davie Ruritan Club and the Cool Springs Ruritan Club, and was Past District Governor of the Piedmont Ruritan. Mr. Anderson was a faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Gray Anderson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Grace; a son, Jeffery M. Anderson of Mocksville; two daughters, Marcia Lynn Wortman (Derick) of Highmore, SD and Carrie A. Biehler (Devin) of Statesville; six grandchildren, Lea A. Renegar, Crystal Cover, Caleb Anderson, Tyler Wortman, Jacob and Jonah Biehler; and four great grandchildren, Garrett Renegar, Hunter and Brecken Cover, and Reily Wortman. He is further survived by three brothers, Charles Anderson of Winston-Salem, and Jerry and Donald Anderson, both of Mocksville. Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Johnson and Rev. Ken Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Kiser officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening, Dec. 29, 2015 at Hebron Baptist Church from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
