Matthew James Ward

Matthew James Ward, age 22, of Statesville passed away January 26, 2022.

He was born February 9, 1999 in Statesville, North Carolina the son of Matthew Franklin Ward and Amanda Carrier Hennessey. He is preceded in death by an uncle, Billy Donelow.

Matthew attended West Iredell High School. He loved trips to the beach with family, gathering with friends at bonfires while camping, listening to music and was the life of the party. He made many lifelong friendships and was beloved by many. He enjoyed spending time in the company of his eight-year-old nephew JJ. Matthew was employed at Pizza Hut and loved being able to work alongside his sister, Mindy. Most of all, he loved and adored his family, he will be deeply missed by all.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Matt Ward and Amanda Hennessey (Mike); beloved sister, Mindy Harris; nephew, JJ Faulk; grandparents, James and Kathy Carrier and Sandra Chornobay; aunts, Teresa Odham (Chris), Janie Keller (Tim) and Tina Marquez (Marino); many cousins; canine companion, Bruno; and numerous other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12 PM until 2 PM Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 E. Front Street, Statesville, NC. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville with Pastor Max Hayes officiating.
