Mary Sue McDowell Ellis, 89, of Statesville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Mapleleaf Health Care Center. Born in Hartwell, Georgia on February 24, 1928, she was a daughter of the late John T. McDowell and Ina Mae Temples McDowell. She was a member of the First Church Of The Nazarene of Statesville and retired from Beaunit Textiles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Troy Lee Ellis, Jr. and a son, Sherman Lee Ellis. Also preceding her in death were siblings: Darrell McDowell, Peggy M. Lipford, Joyce M. Crocker, Elenor M. (Lena) Stone, John T. McDowell, Jr. and Bob T. McDowell, Sr. Survivors include her children: Barbara Ellis Campbell (Wayne), Debra Ellis Smith (Mike) and Charles Wayne Ellis, brothers: Shemuel and Alex McDowell and sisters: Belle Richardson and Ruby Moss. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Randy Campbell, Michael Campbell (Kim), Jessie Bouchard, Melissa S.

Rodbourn (Danny) and Jeremy Smith (Amber) along with 8 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Funeral services celebrating her life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 9, 2017 at The First Church Of The Nazarene with Pastor Frank Turner & Rev. Dale Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com.
