Mary Nell Feimster

Mary Nell Matlock Feimster, 93, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living in Clemmons. She was born in Alexander County on March 10, 1924 to the late Jasper and Mary Jane Lambert Matlock. Mary Nell was a graduate of Stony Point High School and was married to Milton Archie Feimster in 1951. They shared almost 66 years of marriage before his passing on August 24, 2017. The family is happy that they are reunited in Heaven. Mrs. Feimster was a homemaker who took pride in her home and raising her daughter. She was an excellent baker who made birthday and wedding cakes for many loved ones. Mary Nell loved bluegrass and gospel music and loved to dance. She was a baseball fan and rooted for her Atlanta Braves. Mary Nell was a member of Front Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and for many years taught the 5-year-olds influencing their faith in God. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Along with her parents and husband, Archie, she was preceded in death by a brother, Buck Matlock. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Sherry Gregory (Rick) of Lexington; a grandson, Shane Vestal (Heather) of Low Gap, NC; a granddaughter, Alesha Vestal Cheek of Yadkinville, NC; five great grandchildren, Dylan, Mackenzie, Jade, Emma, and Lucas; one sister, Lucille Matlock Miller of Statesville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Front Street Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 until 1:50pm.
