Mary Lois Johnson

October 15, 1926 — February 4, 2017

Mrs. Mary Lois Parker Johnson, 90, of Statesville, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017 surrounded by her family. She is now in the arms of her loving Savior after months of declining health. Mrs. Johnson was born in Forsyth County on October 15, 1926 to William Vance Parker, Sr. and Mary Mouzon Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rollin Wilson Johnson on November 6, 2006. They were married on April 16, 1949. Also preceding her in death were brothers, William Vance Parker, Jr., Cecil M. Parker and David B. Parker. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church and was active in Sunday school, The Circle One and the Senior Challengers. She formerly worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital and with Dr. Dunn and Dr. Lewis. Earlier in her career she worked for Western Union at the Charleston shipyard. She graduated from the Williamsburg County, S.C. schools and enjoyed sewing, church activities and family. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Johnson Parker (James) of Clayton, N.C., two sons, Thomas R. Johnson (Kay) of Charlotte and Timothy H. Johnson (Marianne) of Statesville, along with sisters: Mrs. Betty Parker Cantey of Charlotte and Frances Rose (James) of Newton. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Brian Jason Parker (Kessie), Erik Rollin Johnson, Mark Douglas Johnson (Roxanne), Kristin Johnson Knox (Daniel), Miller Safrit (Laura), Bradley Johnson (Anna) and Ryan Johnson along with 7 great grandchildren. Services celebrating Mrs. Johnson's life will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Concord Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kyle Goodman and Mark Johnson officiating. She will lie in state in the sanctuary while the family greets friends in the fellowship hall from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. Burial will then follow the service in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsnfunerals.com.
