Mary Elizabeth Herman

February 20, 1932 — September 21, 2018

Mary Elizabeth Woodard Herman, 86, of Statesville, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at Maple Leaf Health Care in Statesville. Mrs. Herman was born in Sylva, NC on February 20, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Dee Gibson and Lavada Woodard Gibson.



Mrs. Herman was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and she married Hansford "Buddy" Braxton Herman, who preceded her in death on February 14, 1988.



Mrs. Herman retired from Fiber Ind. following 30 years of service. After her retirement, she worked for 4 Brothers convenient store before joining the Walmart team. When shoppers first came into Walmart she would be there to greet them with a smile.



Left to cherish the memory are two daughters, Martha Beam (Mark) and Janet Hamrick (Nick); two grandchildren, Jessica Bowlin (Richard) and Crystal Call (Travis) and two great-grandchildren, Haley Bowlin and Kaitlynn Richardson. She is also survived by one brother, James Gibson (Grace), all of Statesville.



Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Elizabeth Herman will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 30, 2018 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Boger, Rev. Curtis White and Rev. William Wease officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home.
