Mary Elizabeth Frye

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Frye, 93, of Olin, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on November 1, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wesley Tayse and Dora Lambert Tayse. On January 20, 1945, she married Mr. Foy Lee (Slim) Frye who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Arvil, Jay and Junior Tayse and sisters, Glania Potts, Zella Mae Tayse, Augusta Redmond and Katherine Johnson. She was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, baking and feeding her family. She also enjoyed gardening and enjoying her flowers and taking trips. Survivors include sons: Thomas Lee Frye (Brenda) of Union Grove and Donnie Junior Frye of Olin, daughters, Barbara Frye Hamm (Chub) of Olin and Sandy Frye Wallace (Mike) of Olin. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Tabitha Frye Warren (Matt), Jeanie Frye Lentz (Jarrid), Megan Frye French (Justin), Lindsay Frye Hill (Aaron), and their mother, Mildred Shumaker, Teresa Hamm Bustle (Will), Eric Hamm, Lisa Wallace Kilgore (Jason) and Adam Wallace (Brittany Lashay and daughter, Nevaeh, and the mother of Kegan and Kolby Wallace, Amanda Wallace, along with great grandchildren: Cheyenne May, Jordan Kilgore, Kegan Wallace, Montana Warren, Ashton Lentz, Kolby Wallace, Dane Hill, Jonah Kilgore, Houston Warren, Ada and Ella Hill, Katherine French and Hadley Bustle. Also surviving are sisters, Erma Jordan (Comer) of Union Grove and Jean Sloan (Joe) of Olin. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Union Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Neill Shaw and Rev. Steve Kirby officiating. Pallbearers will be husbands of the granddaughters. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
