Mary Elizabeth Ayers

Mary Elizabeth Byrd Ayers, 73, of Statesville, grew her wings and flew away to heaven to be reunited with th angels on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Hinton, W. Va. on May 18, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Garland Byrd and Ethel Hill Byrd who survives and is of Radford, Va. She was retired from Iredell Memorial Hospital and was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd Jack Ayers. Survivors include three sons: Willard Anthony Hilton of Dublin, Va., Cola Jimmy Ayers of the home and Vernon Allen Ayers of Statesville, four daughters: Gail Hudler of Galax, Va., Tammy Elizabeth Blevins of Troutman, Carolyn Susie Ayers of the home and Mary Ayers Settlemyre of Statesville, along with 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren Services celebrating Mary's life will be conducted at 1 :00 on Tuesday at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Abberger officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.
