Mary Cook

Mrs. Mary Southers Cook, 84, of Statesville, passed away, Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Cook was born May 10, 1926 in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Kelly Southers and Della Mae Privette Southers. She attended Statesville City Schools and on Feb. 14, 1947, she was married to the late Willie Eugene Cook, who passed away Feb. 23, 2010. She was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church and she loved working in the yard. Mrs. Cook is survived by two sisters, Annie White of Statesville, Beulah Blackwell of Archdale, NC, two brothers, Jack Southers and wife, June of Statesville, Luther Southers of Ramseur, NC and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
