Mary Beth Morrison Kennedy

Mary Beth Craven Morrison Kennedy, 97, of Statesville, passed away December 29, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Catawba County on June 27, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Roland Pharr and Loy McLain Craven. She graduated from Mooresville, Mitchell Community College and Carolina Business School in Charlotte. She was employed by Morrison Electric Supply and worked many years as Manager and was a co-owner. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Stephen Morrison and Ernest H. Kennedy, a sister, Rebecca Craven Mills and a brother William Thomas Craven. Survivors include her sisters, Juliette Brown (Walter), of Mooresville, Sarah Washam (Robert) of Shallotte, Evelyn Sime (Dal) of Huntersville, and Martha Ann Ware (Brohn) along with a brother, Walter Pharr Craven (Peggy), several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. One of her many joys in life was being able to "treat" and play with her younger siblings and her nieces and nephews. Mary Beth took classes and learned how to make ceramic figures to give to family and friends. She also loved to bake and made some wonderful chocolate cakes to share with family at dinners. She was an active member of First A.R.P. Church in Statesville until her health began to decline. Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Nicholson Funeral Home with Rev. Phil McCoy officiating. The family will speak with friends immediately following the service. Burial will be private.
