Mary Ann Johnson

Mary Ann Green Johnson, 62, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at her residence. Ms Johnson was born September 17, 1948 in Welch, WV and was the daughter of the late Amos Green and Nellie Lester Green. Ms Johnson attended Welch County schools and she was employed with Mitchell Community College. Ms Johnson was of the Baptist faith. Ms Johnson was preceded in death by a grandson, Jackie Lee Johnson and one brother, Walter Lee Green. Ms. Johnson is survived by three sons, Jackie P. "Jay" Johnson (Nancy) of Statesville, Richard P. Johnson (Carol) of Stony Point, and David A. Johnson (Angie) of Troutman. She is also survived by a daughter, Sherry Pless of Statesville; two granddaughters, Krysta Deans of Statesville and Alyssa Johnson of Troutman; two grandsons, David Allen "DJ" Johnson of Troutman and Nicholas Anderson of Greensboro. She is further survived by one brother, William Green of Kentucky and two great-granddaughters, Kaleeyah and Khiyah Sharpe. Funeral services for Ms Johnson will be conducted 10:30 am Saturday, August 6, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
