Mrs. Mary Ann Marshall Hedrick, 83, of Harmony, died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House.
Mrs. Hedrick was born in Iredell County on August 26, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Ralph Benjamin Marshall and Mary Early Walker Marshall. She was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and received her associate degree from Mitchell College. On June 10, 1953 she married Sanford E. Hedrick, Sr and together they shared 63 years of marriage before his death on October 1, 2016.
Mrs. Hedrick was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with the Iredell County School food service as a baker. Following her retirement, she was active in Willing Workers and other groups along with having volunteered at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Beverly Hedrick, one brother, Everette Marshall along with two sisters, Sue Tomlin and Linda Faughnan.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Ed Hedrick (Hedy) of Harmony; two daughters, Sandra Shaver of Hamptonville and Marcia Rousseau (Gary) of Lady Lake, FL. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Travis Hedrick (Lauren) of Statesville, Tanner Hedrick (Julie) of Chapel Hill, NC, Amber Shaver McCormack (Patrick) of Statesville and Michelle Shaver of Statesville along with three greatgrandchildren, Amaya Gill, Ryder Hedrick and Ruby McCormack, all of Statesville. One brother, R.B. "Buddy" Marshall of Harmony, five sisters, Katherine Ward of Statesville, Carol Horton of TX, Sarah Williams, Jean Marshall, both of Harmony and Ruth Jones of Mocksville, and a number of in-laws, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mary Ann Hedrick will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 21 at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynne Lepley officiating. The family will visit with friends starting at 1:00 pm until the funeral service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ed, Travis and Tanner Hedrick, Gary Rousseau, David Tomlin and Patrick McCormack.
