Mary Ada Hayes

Mary Ada Shoemaker Hayes, 100, of Statesville, passed away, Monday, May 7, 2018 at Rosewood Assisted Living.



Mrs. Hayes was born August 28, 1917 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late James Washington Shoemaker and Dora Barnett Shoemaker. She attended Turnersburg School in Iredell County and was married to the late Noey Gaston Hayes, Sr. She worked for Mary's Craft Shop and was a member of Hebron Baptist Church.



She is survived by five children, Margie Campbell of Avon Park, FL, Shirley H. Chambers (Bobby) of Stone Mountain, GA, Barbara H. Sloan (Wayne) of Harmony, N.G. (Sonny) Hayes, Jr. of Statesville, Brenda H. Fowler (Don) of Nebo, NC, 15 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol H. Campbell (Jerry), two grandchildren, Randy Sloan and Cheryl Heckard.



Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.B. Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday morning 10:00-11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Ritchie Chambers, Landon Campbell, Wyatt Campbell, Mike Gaither, Daniel Gaither, Kenny Smith and Adam Christopher.
