Martha Ella Mendaloff

May 4, 1954 — March 2, 2018

Martha Ella Ashley Mendaloff passed away Friday, March 2, 2018. She was 63. Martha is now at peace, forever young and back in the arms of those that went before her. Martha was the daughter of the late Arvil Murray "Chief" Ashley and Isabelle Hart Ashley.

Martha is survived by her husband of 45 years, Alexander Mendaloff III of Statesville; a daughter, Erin M. Green (Richard), one grandson R. Tate Green all of Salisbury and her constant canine companion, Jilly. Naturally, Martha adored Tate, as she would remind anyone that asked, he was handsome, sweet and mannerly. She enjoyed watching him play baseball and bragged on him endlessly.

Martha was born at the Jacksonville, Florida Naval Air Station in 1954 and living the life of a Navy brat, resided at many different naval bases stateside and abroad. After her father's retirement from the US Navy in 1964, they settled in Tombstone, Arizona where she grew up and attended public school. Moving to Statesville in the Summer of 1971, she finished high school at Statesville Senior High Class of 1972. While here she met Alex, and after ten-month courtship they married in December of 1972. Martha always called Arizona her home and she loved all the many friends she made there. Martha worked at Davis Hospital, Iredell County Health Department and since 1993 at her husband's law firm.

There will be a Memorial Service for Martha at First ARP Church on Broad Street at 2:00 PM Tuesday March 6, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Martha's name to The Gordon Hospice House, Iredell County Humane Society or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Drs.
