Martha Compton

Martha Moore Compton, 80, of Union Grove, passed away, Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Health Wilkes Regional N. Wilkesboro



Mrs. Compton was born October 1, 1937 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Walden and Dessie Souther Moore. She attended Iredell County schools and on August 28, 1964, she was married to Joe A. Compton. She was a member of North Iredell Baptist Church, attended Grassy Knob Baptist Church and was retired from Textile Tape Weavers.



She is survived by a son, Mark Compton (Tonya) of Statesville, a daughter, Angela C. Lewis (Travis) of Union Grove, three grandchildren, Haley Compton, Zachary Compton, Tressa Lewis, three sisters, Lydia Roten (Joe), Rachel Barnette (Tommy), Mary Anderson and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by one sister, Bertha Upright, two brothers, Johnnie Moore, Roy Moore and one niece, Gail Keller.



Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, March 23, 2018 at Grassy Knob Baptist Church. The family will visit with friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church and at other times assemble at the home of Mark and Tonya Compton. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
