Mrs. Martha Jane Holloway Ballard, 91, of Stony Point, NC passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Davis Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Ballard was born in Wilkes County on May 8, 1922 to the late Tyre Holloway and Emma Bauguess Holloway. She attended Wilkes County schools and she was married to James Oscar Ballard, who preceded her in death on December 9, 2004. She was a member of Northview Free Will Baptist Church and prior to her retirement, she was employed with Valley Nursing Center. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Ballard was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by three sons, Wallace Ballard (Dianne) of Taylorsville, James Henry Ballard (Diana) of Statesville, and Billy Ray Ballard (Pamela) of Hiddenite. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Tamatha Lynn Waters (Jeff) of Statesville and Heather Treadaway (Bradley) of Hiddenite; five grandsons, Scott Ballard (Crystal) of Taylorsville, James Delan Ballard of S.C., Mark Ballard and David Ballard of Statesville, and Steve Copley (Nola) of New Florence, PA. She is further survived by four great-granddaughters, Leah Howell (Colt) of Bethlehem, Kaitlyn Galliher (Logan) of Taylorsville, Mercedes Treadaway of Hiddenite, and Elizabeth Copley of New Florence, PA and three great-grandsons, Holbert Bradley Treadaway, Jr. of Hiddenite, Brandon Mack Treadaway of Hiddenite, and Devin Copley of New Florence, PA One great-great-grandson, William Scott Galliher of Taylorsville, one brother, F.D. Holloway of Trap Hill, and one sister-in-law, Pearl Holloway of Wilkesboro also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Ballard will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leroy England and Rev. Blain Keaton officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Millersville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to the 3 floor nursing staff at Davis Regional Medical Center for their tireless efforts in caring for Mrs. Ballard.
