Mark Cameron Morrison

Mark Cameron Morrison left this world for from kidney disease on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Mark was married for 35 years to Karen Adams Morrison, who survives him along with two children, Meredith Ann Morrison Tew of Mooresville, NC and a son, Benjamin Mark Morrison of Atlanta, GA. He leaves a son in law, Clark D. Tew and a grandson, Augustus Cameron Tew, 16 months old to honor his memory. He is also survived by his father, James G. Morrison of Statesville, and a brother and a sister in law, Terry and Janie Morrison of Catawba, NC. Mark had one sister and brother in law, Paulette and Mike Deal of Statesville. He has 5 nephews and 1 niece and a cat, Scotty Cameron Morrison, who he loved and who loved him. He was proceeded in death by mother, Helen Austin Morrison. Born in Statesville, July 5, 1956, Mark lived his entire life in Statesville. He graduated from Statesville High School in 1974 and The University of North Carolina Charlotte in 1980. He was married to Karen on October 10, 1981. Mark worked 38 years for Comm-Scope in Catawba County, starting as a material handler and moving up to being a Training Manager. He was a member of Front Street Baptist Church where he was on the personnel committee. He loved attending when he was able. Mark loved his family, gardening, his church, and golf. He loved teaching both his children to play and enjoyed watching them play both during high school and Division 1 golf with Appalachian State. For Christmas, Mark bought his grandson, Gus, his first set of Ping golf clubs. Mark loved working in his yard and gardening, providing so much produce Karen canned pickles and made spaghetti sauce. Mark loved working in his yard and making it look beautiful. Mark loved going to the beach. He did not like the water, but he knew his family loved it and he loved being with them and making them happy. Mark was a wonderful provider, thinking of his family and his God always first, before himself. He will be loved and missed by many. Memorial gifts can be made to Front Street Baptist Church. Pallbearers include his nephews, Andy, Matthew, and Jim Morrison, his son in law, Clark D. Tew, and Mike and Bradley Deal. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 2/23/17, at Front Street Baptist Church at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be at Nicholson Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, 2/22/17, from 6:00-8:00 PM.
