Marion Steele

Mrs. Marion Queen Steele, 87, of Harmony, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Steele was born May 16, 1928 in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Donald and Jeina Ball Queen. She attended Wilkes County Schools and on March 9, 1947, she was married to the late Gurney Steele, who passed away in 1985. She was a member of Grace Bible Church and was retired from Drexel Heritage in Mocksville. Mrs. Steele loved flowers, painting, and working in her yard and greenhouse. She always made things to give to people who came to visit her like homemade Christmas ornaments or homemade cards. She was full of laughter and love for everyone, especially her family and grandchildren. She was loved and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Steele is survived by two sons, Richard Steele (Gail) of Harmony, Steve Steele (Anita) of Harmony, one daughter, Judy Ward (Ken) of Statesville; six grandchildren, Linda Steele, Kerry Allgood (Mike), Cynthia Wise (Rob), Kimberly Minish (Donald), Matt Holland (Nicole), Michael Steele (Loren), seven great grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy Galliher and a nephew, Terry Campbell, who she treated like a son. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Elaine Holland and Jeanne Shook, five brothers, Lloyd, Ralph, Belo, Rollo and Warren Queen, and two sisters, Violet Campbell and Eller Sechler. A private family funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. bobby Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Foushee, Lisa Mathis, the ICU Nurses at Iredell Memorial Hospital, Linda Taylor and Brenda Crosby. The family requests that if flowers are purchased, please get flowers that can be planted and memorials can be made to the Harmony Fire Department. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Marion Queen Steele.
