Marion Campbell Elam

November 26, 1946 — June 2, 2016

Marion Campbell Elam, 69, of Statesville, died Thursday at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on November 26, 1946, she was a daughter of the late William Edward Elam, Sr. and Sadie Lorena Campbell. Marion was a member of Clarksbury United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School ,was a member of the U.M.W. and participated in the Senior's Group. She was the first woman Elder years ago at the Harmony Presbyterian Church. She also had a very active card mailing ministry. She worked at Star Milling for 30 years and prior to that at Statesville Credit Bureau and while there she was a member of the Credit Women International. She also worked part time for many years at Spainhours. She also enjoyed shopping. Her family wishes to thank her high school classmates for lunch trips with special thanks to Ann Lowe and Donna Woods. In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by a brother-In-Law, Allen D. Jones. Survivors include a brother, William Edward Elam, Jr., a sister, Sue Jones, nephews: Al Jones (Janeen), Jonathan Elam (Holly) and Justin Elam and nieces: Carrie Etzkorn (Dennis), Amanda Sharpe (John) and Kelly Pardue. Also surviving are 7 great nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Clarksbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Katie Lineberger and Rev. Ervil Jones officiating. She will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will then receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the committal. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com.
