Marinell Morrison

Miss Marinell Morrison of Statesville, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Davis Regional Medical Center. She was born in Statesville on December 29, 1932 and was a daughter of the late John Brady Morrison and Nell Johnson Morrison. She attended Statesville Elementary School and graduated from St. Petersburg High School and St. Petersburg Junior College and received her B.S. Degree in Education from Catawba College. She was a retired school teacher from St. Petersburg Tyrone Junior High School where she taught math for 28 years. Marinell and her parents lived in St. Petersburg for many years and returned to Statesville following her mother's death in 1979. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesville and was formerly a member of St. Peters Episcopal Cathedral in St. Petersburg, Fla. Survivors include two first cousins, Taylor Johnson of Charlotte and Julia Johnson Holland (Bill) of Statesville along with numerous other second cousins. Also surviving is her furry friend, Katie. Additional survivors include her close friends Jane Fox and Jane Severson (Bryant) along with her caregiver, Greg Richmond. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Brad Mullis officiating. The family will visit with friends at the cemetery following the service.
