Mrs. Margery Eleanor Stickles Storey, 94, of Statesville, died peacefully Thursday, November 23, 2017 at her home. A loving, caring, capable woman, "Mardy", as she was known, was born in Mount Vernon, New York on February 4, 1923, she was a beloved daughter of the late Ernest Stickles and Margery Kemble Stickles. She was a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church. She attended Mary Washington College. While there she met a young Naval Academy cadet, Donald Storey. The young couple married, Donald went to WW II in the Pacific Theater. Good fortune smiled on Mardy and Don and after the war they raised 3 children in Fairfield, Ct. Upon retirement they moved to Yarmouthport on Cape Cod. They had 20 plus years in a place they loved. Mardy was a great mother, embracing each and every new member of her family. Mardy and Don's song was "As Time Goes By", a beautiful song befitting a life well lived. She is survived by sons, Donald Storey (Victoria) and Christopher S. Storey (Tami) , a daughter, Margery Waters (Calvin), 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Services will be held later in Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, N.C. 28625.
