Margaret Sue Davidson

Mrs. Margaret "Sue" Church Davidson, 81, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Davidson was born in Iredell County on February 27, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Robert Clay "Doc" Church and Edra Mae Padgette Church. She attended Olin Elementary and Harmony High School. On November 12, 1952, she was married to Jessie L. Davidson, who survives. She was employed with Melville Printing Company from 1962 until 2015 where she was a bookkeeper, secretary, and treasurer. She was a member of the Business & Professional Women's Club of Statesville and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of Friendship Circle, serving as secretary and treasurer and also was a member of the kitchen committee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Charles, Ben, and Neil Church. Along with her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Donna Gould (Harry) of Garner, NC, and one son, Mike Davidson of Statesville. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Casie Mims (Jesse) of Four Oaks, NC, a grandson, Jesse Gould of Garner, NC, and a great-grandson, Logan Jessie Mims of Four Oaks. Three sisters, Ruth Stewart (Jerry) of Oklahoma City, OK, Peggy Krider (Bill), and Judy Johnson, and one brother, Wade Church (Joyce) all of Statesville. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dot and Jim Blackwelder, Walter and Milanda Davidson, Jack and Kay Davidson, Kat and Pete Ward, and Laura Davidson, all of Statesville. Sisters-in-law, Earlene Church, Betsy Church, and Faye Church along with a number nieces and nephews also survive. A service celebrating the life of Sue Davidson will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, January 29, 2016, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Fitzgerald and Rev. Gervace Hitch officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service at the church.
