Margaret Simmons

Mrs. Margaret Sherrill Simmons, 76, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Simmons was born June 22, 1935 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Will H. Sherrill and Ellamae Caldwell Sherrill. She attended Winston-Salem, NC schools and was married to the late John E. Simmons, Jr., who passed away Feb. 19, 2010. She was a member of Front Street Baptist Church and was a employed by RHA Statesville. Mrs. Simmons is survived by one son, John "Ed" Simmons, III of Statesville, six grandchildren, Sherrill Ann Hedrick (Jason), Stephanie Harrington, James Aaron Moore, Matthew "Matt" Moore, Jonathon Adams, Montana Star all of Statesville and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Ann Simmons Harrington, Susan Elaine Simmons Myers, one brother, William Sherrill, one sister, Doris Miller and one granddaughter, Angela Nicole Jarvis. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marvin Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
