Margaret Nell Parker

Margaret Nell Price Parker, 93, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at her residence. She was born on April 14, 1923 in Rowan County to the late Andrew Zimmer Price and Vetra Reese Price. Mrs. Parker was a graduate of Cannon High School and received her teaching degree from High Point College. On June 14, 1946, she married Carl Parker who preceded her in death on December 26, 1998. They enjoyed over 52 years of marriage before his passing. She was a teacher for 34 years in Kannapolis City Schools before her retirement and was active in the Retired Teachers Organization. Mrs. Parker was a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis before moving to Statesville ten years ago. She moved her membership to Broad Street United Methodist Church at that time. Left to cherish her memory are a son, Joe Parker (Debbie); a daughter, Susan Parker Stallard (Cecil); grandchildren, Todd Parker (Anne), Spencer S. Eckard (Will), Parker Stallard (Mary Bruce), Brandon Stallard (Hope), and Stacy Bessler (Wayne); great grandchildren, Jack and Gracie Parker, John Stallard, and Anderson Margaret, Lizzie, Tate, and Kennedy Eckard; along with countless nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Gehring officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The family will visit with friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Tina, Chasity, Christina, Krista, Flichsa, Sarah, Dawn, and Melinda along with Hospice for the love and care they provided Nell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C. 28625.
