Maggie Curlee York

Maggie Curlee York, 89, of Statesville, went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2016 at the Valley Nursing Center in Taylorsville. She was born on June 6, 1927 in Iredell County to the late William Robert Curlee and Callie Lambert Curlee. Mrs. York attended Cool Springs School and on February 4, 1945, was married to Lawrence Bryant York who died on September 12, 2005. They shared 59 years of marriage before his passing. She was a former member of Hudson Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba County and was retired from the finishing department of Hickory Chair Co. She enjoyed cooking, her pets and working in the flower garden and her special love was for her grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Lawrence, she was preceded in death by five brothers, five sisters and a granddaughter, Bridget Regina York. Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Melvin B. York (Tammy) of Stony Point, Jody L. York (Brenda) of Hudson, NC, and Wayne B. York (Anita) of Union Grove; two daughters, Vickie R. York of Stony Point, and Ronda Berry (Lennie) of Conover; sixteen grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. York will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with her son, Rev. Jody L. York officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. at the funeral Home. Her Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and other grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
