Madelyn Irene Hansen

Madelyn Irene Clark Hansen, 91, of East Monbo, NC died on January 23rd, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC. She was born February 6, 1924 in Troutman, NC to Rome Clark and Grace Irene Robinette Clark. She married Charles H. Hansen in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1980. Surviving are her two sons, Charles R. Hansen and daughter-in-law Nancy of Alpharetta, Georgia and Donn C. Hansen of New Port Richey, Florida. Four grandchildren include, Carolyn Hansen Forst and spouse Christopher Forst of Mount Pleasant, SC, William Charles Hansen of Mooresville, NC, Jennifer Hansen Owens of Alpharetta, GA and Eric Charles Hansen of Atlanta, GA. Four great-grandchildren include, Isabella Reese Owens and Sophia Marie Owens of Alpharetta, GA, Madelyn Elizabeth Forst of Mount Pleasant, SC and Rylan William Little of Huntersville, NC. Also surviving, cousin Hal Smith and spouse Dot Smith from Hemet, CA and other family and friends. Madelyn graduated from Troutman H.S. and attended Appalachian State Teacher's College. Madelyn loved to travel and did so extensively in the U.S., Canada and Europe. During her lifetime she lived in the Midwest, Georgia and Arizona. She returned to her homestead in North Carolina in the late 1970s where she continued to live until her death. She loved being with people and enjoyed cooking and teaching her children and grandchildren the forgotten ways of Southern cooking. A private memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House of Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
