Mabel Dean Jordan, 96, of Statesville, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Maple Leaf Health Care. Mrs. Jordan was born in Iredell County on October 19, 1914 and was the daughter of the Late Cleveland Jordan and Pearl McLelland Jordan. She attended Iredell County schools and was retired from Davis Hospital as a nurse assistant. She was married to Samuel Gates Jordan who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of Mountain View United Methodist Church. Some of her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, all of whom will miss her dearly. She was a dear friend to all who knew her and was always willing to lend a hand when needed. The family wishes to acknowledge all her friends and special loved ones at King Grant Court and of Statesville Place. A special acknowledgement is given to all the sitters who loved and took care of her. She is survived by her three daughters, Geraldine Jordan McLain of Statesville, Connie Jordan Hancock and her husband Al, of Johns Creek, GA, and Joyce Jordan Webb and her husband Billy, of Statesville; one son, Sammy Ray Jordan of Statesville; three grandsons, Rae McLain, Jr. of Statesville, David Hancock of Johns Creek, GA, and William Webb of Knoxville, TN; two granddaughters, Linda Hancock and her husband Karl, of Alpharetta, GA. and Dr. Kim Webb of Portland, OR; great-grandson, Christopher Hancock of Alpharetta, GA. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved very much. In addition to her husband, Samuel Gates Jordan, who died on May 4, 1998, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Elva Tilley; her brothers, Mitch Jordan and King Jordan along with her son-in-law, Raeford McLain. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2011 at Mountain View United Methodist Church. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at Nicholson Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. The family will assemble at other times at the home of Joyce and Billy Webb, 1324 Royalty Circle, Statesville, N.C.
