Lyn Hay

July 14, 1925 — December 5, 2014

Mr. William Lynwood "Lyn" Hay, 89, of Statesville, passed away Friday, December 05, 2014, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Lyn was born July 14, 1925, in Crosland, GA and was the son of the late Idus Linwood Hay and Lettie Clark Hay. He was a graduate of Deshlar High School and Florence State University in Colbert County, AL. Lyn earned his Eagle Scout Badge and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII. He was married to Margaret Jefferson Hay who preceded him in death in 2002. Lyn was retired as the assistant store manager of J.C. Penney. Lyn found his true passion in starting the Cup of Water, a Christian Counseling Center here in Statesville. He was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church and was an Elder for the church. "Daddy had a God given gift for reaching out to spread the Word of the Lord." In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Austin Baker and Jennifer Davidson. Lyn, also known as Daddy Lyn, is survived by four daughters, Linda H. Campbell (Robert) and Lisa Hay, Joyce Ervin (John), and Julie Tripp, all of Statesville and one son, Jeff Davidson (Nancy) of Mooresville. He is also survived by one brother, George Hay of Gretna, LA along with nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Lyn Hay will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, December 8, 2014, at Concord Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kyle Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the graveside services. Active and honorary pallbearers will be David Stroud, Mark Campbell, Daniel Ervin, Drew Ervin, Justin Davidson, Taj Wright, Christopher Bass Matthew Baker, Cody Bass, Jamie Crawford, and Ben Stroud. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church Youth Ministry, 3867 Taylorsville Hwy, Statesville, NC 28625.
