Lue Gene Mcdaniels

Lue Gene McDaniels, 88, of Statesville, passed away after a brief illness at Iredell Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. He was born in Iredell County and was preceded in death by his former wife Margaret, an infant child, Artie, his daughter, Sandra Christopher, and his son, Garland McDaniels. Mr. McDaniels was educated in Iredell County Schools, retired from Kewaunee Scientific, was the Pastor of 7th Street Baptist Church, and was active in the ministries of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was active in the community, a frequent visitor to area churches and senior living facilities spreading fellowship and joy. He was a devoted member of the community, a loving father, and grandfather, and will be sorely missed. He is survived by two sons, Marvin McDaniels of Mooresville and Steve McDaniels of Troutman. In addition, he survived by three sisters and one brother, Lorene Bustle, Margie Sheppard, Leonard McDaniels of Statesville and Irene Anderson of Troutman; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening, March 19, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
