Mrs. Lucy Rhoten Long, 96, of Statesville, passed away, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Maple Leaf Nursing Center. Mrs. Long was born October 9, 1919 in Wilkes County to the late Isaac and Jesse Martin Rhoten. She was a graduate of Wilkes County Schools and was married to the late Reid Neven Long, Sr., who died in 1967. She was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church and was the office manager at Nevlon Sign Company. She is survived by one son, Reid Neven Long, Jr. (Libby) of Statesville, two grandsons, Farrell Long (Kim) of Statesville, Michael Long (Christina) of High Point, one granddaughter, Krystal L. McKinney (Derek) of Statesville, six great grandchildren, Wesley Long, Rebekah Long, Olive Longrove, Brooke, Nikki and Christopher. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bud Long, one granddaughter, Nancy Carol Long and five sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Christ Boulevard U.M.C with Rev. Larry Thompson and Rev. Joe Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Farrell Long, Michael Long, Wesley Long, Lawrence Lamberth, Tim Hall and Dr. David Cash. The family will receive friends Monday evening 6:00-8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
