Hallie Louise Moose Witherspoon, 73, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at her home. She was born November 27, 1939 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late David Moose and Nellie Moose. Mrs. Witherspoon was a graduate of Troutman High School and was married to Wade L. Witherspoon Sr. She was a knitting operator for Burlington Industries. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Sara K. Moose and a brother, Melvin Hedrick. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah E. Thomas, of Sufolk, VA, a son, Wade L. Witherspoon, Jr., of Statesville, a grandson, Robert James Thomas, Jr., of Statesville, two great-grandchildren, Sean Wainwright and Clarissa Thomas, both of Statesville. She is also survived by a sister, Martha Major, of Statesville, four brothers, Billy Moose, Hughlee Moose, Conard Moose and J.W. Moose, all of Statesville. A funeral service for Mrs. Witherspoon will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Flute officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
