Louis James Huffman

October 10, 1944 — October 23, 2018

Louis James Huffman, 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. He was born in Tulsa, OK and was the son of the late Austin Louis Huffman and Winifred Tabor Willeford Huffman. He spent his early years in Bond County, IL and married Linda Jo Frey in 1966. He went on to study forestry at the University of IL and later attended the University of Washington, where he received a degree of Master of Forest Resources. His passion for trees was unmatched, becoming the basis of his livelihood.

Louis Huffman was a man of integrity, diligence, and action. He was a loyal husband and cared deeply for his family, especially his grandchildren. In 1994, Louis acquired land that became the family farm--his daily retreat. For the past 25 years, the farm has been an anchor for the family--providing countless happy memories. He was grateful for strong relationships with mentors, business partners, and friends. He was most at peace among the trees, and found his final resting place there.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Linda Huffman, he is survived by: a daughter, Anna Winger (John); three grandchildren, Olivia Winger, Louis Winger, and Lyle Winger; four sisters, Linda D'Angelo (Joe), Diane Smith, Ruth Huffman, and Alice Mullen (Mark) and extended family. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Huffman.

Memorial services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Forest Park Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Jefferies officiating. The family will visit with family and friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
