Lora Belle Kurfees

Lora Belle Kurfees, 92, of Statesville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 11, 2022.

Mrs. Kurfees was born November 3, 1929, to Mr. Charlie R. Rash and Mrs. Minnie Owens Rash.

Lora went to school through the 8th grade but years later went back and earned her GED through Mitchell Community College and graduated February 28, 1983. Mrs. Kurfees later went on to complete her food service and Nutrition Certification from Mitchell Community College. Lora worked for many years in Nutrition and Dietary with N.B. Mills Elementary School, she had previously worked for Hunt Manufacturing Co.

Lora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn Martin Kurfees, brother, Richard Rash, sister, Margaret R. Feimster, and grandson Martin (Marty) A. Kurfees

She is survived by her sisters, Mary R. Benge and Lorene R. Johnson both of Statesville, North Carolina; brother, Fred (Buck) Rash of Salisbury, NC; sons, Richard Eugene Kurfees (Wanda) of Mooresville, North Carolina and Sanford Glenn Kurfees (Linda) of New Port Richey, Florida; daughter, Brenda Diane Kurfees Mintz of New Port Richey, Florida; grandsons , Charles S. Kurfees (Amanda) of Statesville, North Carolina, Richard (Richie) E. Kurfees (Wendy) of Granite Falls, North Carolina and Glenn M Kurfees II (Selena) of Hiddenite, North Carolina.; granddaughter , Andrea M. Shook (Christopher) of Maiden, North Carolina; Mrs. Kurfees is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a grand-dog.

A graveside service was held Friday, October 14th, 2022, at 3pm at Iredell Memorial Gardens. Previous Events
