Lonnie Robert Tucker

Mr. Lonnie Robert Tucker, 85, of Statesville, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Davis Regional Medical Center. Born in Rowan County on March 9, 1930, he was a son of the late Robert Cleo Tucker and Mary Austin Tucker. Mr. Tucker was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church and was retired from Merchant Metals. He served 20 years in the U. S. Air Force. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, walking and game shows. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Kyles Tucker, two sons, Robert Wishon (Teresa) and Phillip Wishon (Kristi) all of Statesville along with a brother, Donald Tucker (Joy) of Louisiana and a sister, Frances O'Neal of Coolleemee. Two grandchildren also survive, Corey and Abby Wishon. Funeral services for Mr. Tucker will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Spry officiating. He will lie in state while the family receives friends at the church from 12:30 until the service time. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
