Lois Ann Myers Watts, known lovingly as Memaw, died peacefully on December 6, 2024 at the age of 89.
Lois was born on June 22, 1935. She was the youngest child of the late William and Una Myers. Lois was a 1953 graduate of Troutman High School. She was voted “The Wittiest” of her senior class. She married Billy Watts, who was voted “Best Looking.” They were married over 50 years.
She spent her professional years working in administrative and office management positions. After retirement, she became an avid bowler. She participated in several leagues and won multiple medals at the Senior Games.
Lois was a loving mother and grandmother. The only thing she loved more than her family was the Lord. She was devoted to her Christian faith and proud of her Lutheran heritage. Lois was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Statesville. She enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the handbells. Lois was always singing and sharing her love of music with everyone around her.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Pauline and Mildred; and two brothers, Arthur and Ralph.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Richard Watts and Timothy Watts; two grandchildren, Ellen Wood (Austin) and Tanner Watts (Katherine); three great grandchildren, Lindlee Jo, Marnie, and Auden Wood; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat Lydia.
A celebration of life will be at held Nicholson Funeral Home Sunday, February 2. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 followed by a brief memorial service from 3:00 to 3:30. Come as you are.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Statesville or Iredell Christian Ministries in memory of Lois.
