Lois Troutman

Esther Lois Kennedy Troutman, 90, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born in Iredell County on November 11, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Arthur Ferrell and Emma Lou Mills Kennedy. She was a graduate of Troutman High School Class of 1942 and on May 24, 1944, she married Glenn Curtis Troutman, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 20, 1996. Lois worked for Iredell County for 26 years and retired in 1992, serving as tax supervisor, tax collector, and tax assessor. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Happy Seniors Club and Altrusa International. Lois was voted the first annual "Outstanding Public Employee Award" in 1984 by the Iredell Democratic Men's Club. In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee Troutman, who died September 12, 1981. She is survived by two sons, Glenn Troutman, Jr and Michael Allen Troutman, both of Statesville, and two daughters, Jenny Hoover (Jerry) of Statesville and Pat Wise (Gordon) of Salisbury. She is also survived by one grandson, Bryan A. Hoover (Angela), two great grandchildren, Ashley and Patrick Hoover, and one great-great granddaughter, Rylee Lynch. She is further survived by two brothers, Walter Edward Kennedy of Statesville and Arthur Ralph Kennedy of Catawba, NC along with four sisters, Louise Orren, Hazel Williams, Lorene Campbell, and Rachel Ketchie, all of Statesville. Burial services for Mrs. Troutman will be at 11:30 AM Thursday morning in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends in the St. John's Lutheran Church fellowship hall from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Thursday followed by a memorial funeral service in the church sanctuary at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ernie Sheldon officiating.
