Lillian Mae Mabe

Mrs. Lillian Mae Campbell Dixon Mabe, 96, of Statesville, died Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Maple Leaf Healthcare.



Mrs. Mabe was born in Iredell County on May 1, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Barnett Clyde Campbell and Hallie Mae Lundy Campbell. She attended Iredell County schools.



Mrs. Mabe was married to Jim Dixon who preceded her in death in November 1977 and later married Elwood Mabe who also preceded her in death in October 2005.



She was a life-long member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and served on many mission trips to Montana where she along with others planted churches.



Mrs. Mabe was a caregiver by nature and loved helping others who were sick or needed help.



In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Key, one grandson, Mark Emerson Fox as well as seven siblings.



Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Carolyn Roten and Wanda Fox (John), both of Statesville and eight grandchildren, Elaine Watt (Jeff) of Statesville, Eric Fox of Troutman, Kay Roten of Statesville, Dean Roten of Winston-Salem, Craig Fox (Kim) and Dina Little (Rodney), both of Statesville Carla Penrose of Troutman and James Fox (Tammy) of Statesville. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Matthew Roten (Kathryn) of Winston-Salem, Caroline Watt of Charlotte, Erica Fox Shaver (Chris) of Ballantyne, Jeffrey Watt (Hannah) of Statesville, Jonathan Fox and Daniel Fox, both of Troutman, Heather Fox, Kaitlyn Fox, Candice Horvath (Frank), Sarah Gregory (Curtis), Zach Little, all of Statesville, and Seth Penrose of Troutman. She is further survived by three great-great grandchildren, Harper Horvath, McKenna Gregory, and Stella Watt, all of Statesville and a great niece, Timaree Silva of Glendora, CA.



Funeral services honoring the life of Lillian Mabe will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 13 at Christ Boulevard UMC. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Watt, II, Jonathan Fox, Zack Little, Matthew Roten, Chris Shaver, and Joe Mastrosante. Honorary pallbearer will be Seth Penrose.
