Lillian Elaine Downs

Lillian Elaine Downs, age 71, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, in Lunenburg County, VA. Born on December 20, 1951, in Chester, SC, she was the daughter of the late David Greer Downs and Geneva Frances Lowery Downs.

Lillian was a graduate of Chester Senior High School in Chester, SC and graduated from Mitchell Community College. She was a Certified Nurses Aid working as a Home Health Nurse. She retired from Gentiva Home Health.

In addition to her parents, David Greer and Geneva Frances Lowery Downs, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Allen Sherrill; sisters, Kathy Downs and Vicki Carter; brother, Terry Downs; and her grandparents.

Left to cherish her memory include her sons, Jerry “Billy” Sherrill (Jennifer), and Tim Sherrill (Ronee); daughter, Doris Campbell; grandchildren, T.J. Sherrill, John Paul Souther (Aleasha), Jonathan Sherrill (Stephanie), Zack Sherrill (McKenna), Ashely Moleta (Andrew), Taylor Sherrill, and Lucas Sherrill; great-grandchildren, Dalton Sherrill (Allyson), Kenny Sherrill, Amelia Sherrill, Nathanal Sherrill, Jordan Sherrill and Trey and Katie; great grandchildren, Harley Sherrill, Josiah Sherrill, Olivia Moleta, and Gunner Sherrill; great-great grandchild, Jackson Sherrill; nieces, Tammy Metts (Frankie), Angie Herb (Shannon), and Jennifer White (Brad); nephews, Charles “Chuck” Haney (Kathy) and David Haney

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Nicholson Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Olin Cemetery in Olin, NC with Heather Besoiu, Funeral Celebrant officiating.
