Lester Grady Mayberry

Lester Grady Mayberry, 88, of Troutman, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Iredell County on February 27, 1929 to the late Robert Cleve Mayberry and Mary Barker Mayberry. Mr. Mayberry attended Iredell County Schools and was married to Winifred Caldwell Mayberry, who preceded him in death in 2008. He was owner/operator of Mayberry's Appliances doing refrigeration and appliance repair for many people of Iredell County. He was a member of Troutman Baptist Church. Along with his parents and wife, Winifred, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Wayne Mayberry and Mark Christopher Mayberry; a sister, Mozell Mayberry, and a brother, Louis Wilford Mayberry. Left to cherish his memory are a son, Allen Mayberry; a daughter, Diane (Mike) Cole; one grandchild, Holly (Butch) Donahue, one great grandchild, Matthew (Meaghan) Freeze, and one great-great grandchild, Hunter Freeze, all of Statesville. Also surviving are a brother, Herman (Betty) Mayberry; and a sister, Wilma (Allen)Collins Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. J.B. Parker officiating. Burial with military rites provided by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. Pallbearers will be: Brent Alexander, Loyd Alexander, Mike Cole, Butch Donahue, Nicholas Lloyd and Colby Lloyd.
