Lester Daniel Souther

Mr. Lester Daniel Souther, 88, of Statesville, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on October 9, 1930, he was a son of the late Rochie Daniel Souther and Tishie Mae Speaks Souther. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Dorsey L. Souther, Flora Belle Goodin, Lela Dishman and Pat Rhinehardt.



He was a member of St. Marks Baptist Church and loved motorcycles and old cars. He was the owner-operator of N.C. Cabinet Company until his retirement in 1992. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.



Survivors include his wife, Betty, two sons, Jerry Souther (Anita) and Ricky Souther (Vivian) and a daughter, Teresa Dishmon (Steve). Also surviving is a sister, Margaret Feimster, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.



Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday at St. Marks Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Milstead and Rev. Ken McCann officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to the service at the church while Mr. Souther lies in state. He will lie in state at Nicholson Funeral Home until Monday. Entombment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
