Larry Johnson

Larry Lee Johnson, 68, of Troutman, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 13, 2014. He was born in Wilkes County on March 19, 1946 to the late Robert Truman Johnson and Elsie Dowell Johnson Griffin. Larry attended Central School and on March 23, 1973, he married Patricia Bustle Johnson, who survives. They had over 41 years of marriage before his passing. He retired from Thomasville Furniture and had worked at Orbit Furniture. He loved his kids and grandkids and always enjoyed watching his sons play soccer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ezra Griffin, who helped raise Larry as he lost his Dad at an early age. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Patricia Bustle Johnson of the home; three sons, Roger Johnson of Seattle, WA, David Lee Johnson (Tanya) of Mooresville, and Jamie Lynn Johnson (Jennifer) of Troutman; a daughter, Angela Denise Johnson of Troutman; and five grandchildren, Chelsea and Taylor Johnson, Wyatt and Allyssa Johnson, and Devin Johnson. He is also survived by four sisters, Estelle Bustle, Peggy Patterson, Alvina Wilcox, and JoAnn Navedo; and two brothers, Rev. Robert Johnson and Roger Johnson. Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held 2:30PM Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home Tuesday evening, Dec. 16, 2014 from 6:30 until 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 509 Prospect Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
