Kenneth Wayne Waugh

Mr. Kenneth Wayne Waugh, age 69 of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, November 17th at Gordon Hospice House. Kenneth was born on December 18, 1946 to Wayne Leon Waugh (who survives) and the late Rebekah Dutton Waugh. On December 2, 1972, Kenneth married his loving wife, Gloria Walker Waugh who also survives. In addition to his father and his wife, Kenneth is further survived by one sister, Linda Waugh Harper (Tony) of Statesville, one brother, David Waugh of Huntersville, three brothers-in-law, Randy Walker, David Walker, and Harold Walker (Shelby); six nieces, Cindi Bowman, Erica Harper, Erin Brady, Sarah Waugh, Tresa Shaw, Kristi Byers; and two nephews, Nathan Walker and Vernie Shoaf. He was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School, Mitchell Community College, and Appalachian State University. Kenneth worked for the Iredell-Statesville Schools for 36 years. During those years, he taught math and science at Scotts Elementary School and West Iredell Middle School. He then moved to West Iredell High School as an Audio-Visual Media Specialist. Kenneth was also an active member and past president of the West Iredell Lions Club. He was a member of Stony Point United Methodist Church where he held various offices including Chairman of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee as well as served as a Trustee of the church. He loved rock and arrowhead hunting, photography, genealogy, and reading. He was always one who was willing to help anyone in need. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services for Mr. Waugh will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Stony Point United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Donnie Durham and Dr. Earl Lindeman. Interment will follow in the New Sterling ARP Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robbie McLain, Steven McLain, Eddie Ashburn, David Guy, Gary Roseman, Robert Hoke and Jack Leaird. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:30pm - 3:00pm at Stony Point United Methodist Church.
