Kenneth Preston Knox

Mr. Kenneth Preston Knox, 69, of Cool Springs, passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, March 9, 2016. He was born May 16, 1946 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Moffett and Jacqueline Propst Knox. He graduated from Covina High School, CA, then attended Mt. San Antonio College. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp in January, 1966 and served honorably for three years during the Vietnam War. For most of his life he was a self-employed carpenter. He had also worked at The Balloon Works in Love Valley. His former wife is Annika Lind Knox of Stockholm, Sweden. Mr. Knox is also survived by one son, David Knox of Stockholm, one granddaughter, Sarah of London, two brothers, Michael and John Knox and one sister, Leslie Knox all of Cool Springs. Also surviving are one nephew, Jason Knox and three nieces, Michelle Knox, Heather Hogan and Jessica Taggart. He loved the outdoors, taking long walks in the woods, sailing the lakes and sounds and the Florida Keys. He was an avid reader and would often be seen sitting under at the shade tree with his favorite book. He loved people and was often the life of the party. He made friends wherever he traveled. He was a free spirit, having hitch-hiked across the country 10 times, earning him the nickname, "Captain Midnight". There will be a memorial service Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church. The family will receive family and friends for a memorial dinner in the Fellowship Hall. His ashes will be sprinkled by the immediate family at a time to be determined. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Kenneth Knox.
