Kenneth Miller Hansel

January 16, 1935 — January 29, 2018

Mr. Kenneth Miller Hansel, Sr., 83, of Olin, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Gaston County on January 16, 1935, he was a son of the late William Hugh Hansel and Edith Moore Hansel. He was married to the former Sadie Link who survives.



Mr. Hansel was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school for 30 years. He was a member of the Olin Masonic Lodge and was formerly in the Union Grove Ruritan Club. He also was retired from the Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He was a retired educator having worked from 1958 until 2004. He received his B.A. from Appalachian State University and his Masters Degree from N.C. A & T University.



In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kenneth M. Hansel, Jr. (Robin) and a daughter, Rene' Jones, two grandchildren, Mari-Katherine Nowlin (Danny) and John Ray Webber (Brittney) and two great grandchildren, Mya Hernandez and Zaccary Nowlin.



Funeral services are scheduled for today, Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Union Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Neil Shaw officiating. He will lie in state in the sanctuary for one hour prior to the service while the family greets friends in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites presented. Honorary groups sitting together at the service will include: members of the Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department, members of his Sunday school class and members of the Masonic Lodge.
