Kenneth 'Kenny' Martin Hayes

Kenneth "Kenny" Martin Hayes, 62, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away November 24, 2021. Kenny was born to Ray and Carol on September 15, 1959. He graduated from Baldwinsville High School in New York in 1977. He married Philis in 1980 and they lived together in Lexington, NC. Together they raised 2 children. He leaves his wife, Philis Hayes; 2 children, Joseph Hayes (Danielle) and Kennie Sledge (Nick); step-father, Joe Whitman; 2 sisters, Lynn Blakely and Annette Hedrick (David). He also leaves to cherish his memory 5 grandchildren, Logan, Kelcie, Caige, Barney, and Blake. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Hayes, and his mother, Carol Whitman (Staley). Kenny was an avid motorcycle and car enthusiast. He loved fishing at Kure Pier and adored his grandchildren. He was a skilled craftsman who created many forms of art. His children also remember him as being a grumpy old hermit. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 3pm-5pm at North Lexington Triangle Fire Department located at 2976 Greensboro St Ext in Lexington, NC.
