Kenneth Gray Rummage

Kenneth Gray Rummage, 83, of Statesville, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at Claire Bridge of Statesville. He was born in Davie County, September 19, 1933 to the late Boone Reece Rummage and Mildred Boger Rummage. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Rummage Beeker of Salisbury. He graduated from Statesville Senior High School in 1952. Mr. Rummage served in the Army in Korea from 1953 to 1956. On April 23, 1958, he married Edith Campbell Rummage who survives. In 1967 Kenneth and his partner, Bobby Lofland, established L&R Plumbing & Heating, where he worked until his retirement in 2012. He also served as President of the North Carolina Piedmont Woodcarvers Club. Mr. Rummage was also a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. For many years, he and his family enjoyed going on their annual trip to the beach. They looked forward to fishing, relaxation, good food, and family times. In addition to his wife of 58 years, Edith, he is survived by a son, Colon Rummage (Donna) of Statesville, 2 daughters, Teresa Huie (Deward) of Union Grove, and Anita Dickens (Scott) of Statesville. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Benjamin Colvert, Bridgett Colvert Morrison (Steven), Austin Rummage, Joshua Dickens and George Dickens, a sister, Doris Rummage Kepley of Wilmington, and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral Services for Kenneth Rummage will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 17,2017 at Christ Boulevard UMC with Rev. Larry Thompson and Hospice Chaplain Steven Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Nicholson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Russel Troxler, Bill Mowbry, Tracy Green, Tommy Byrd, Archie Johnson and Howard Clary. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Lofland, Dan Medlin, David Roakes and Eddie Sipes. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 or to Christ Boulevard UMC, 1947 E. Broad St., Statesville, NC 28677.
