Kenneth Franklin Stroud

Kenneth Franklin Stroud, 88, of Harmony, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Iredell County on September 10, 1927 to the late Norris Andrew and Leroa Gunn Stroud. Mr. Stroud attended Iredell County Schools and served his country honorably during WWII serving in the Navy. On Nov. 9, 1963, he married Norma Lucille Henderson, who survives. He was owner/operator of Bud's Oil Company and was a member of the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as Chief. Mr. Stroud was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where he had served his church as a Deacon. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lucille; a sister, Martha Stroud Cash; a step-son, Carroll Snead; a granddaughter, Vanessa S. Denny (Chuck); a great grandson, Carson Denny; former daughter-in-law, JoAnn Snead; and his caregiver, June Walker. Funeral services for Mr. Stroud will be held 2:30 pm Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Gwaltney and Rev. Bobby Henderson officiating. Burial with full military rites provided by the North Iredell American Legion Post 113 will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Stroud will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service and the family will visit with friends in the Fellowship Hall following the graveside portion of the service.
