Mr. Kenneth Marshall Speece, Sr., 63, of Olin, N.C. passed away Friday, August 24, 2012, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Speece was born January 25, 1949 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Nathan James and Eula Mae Souther Speece. He attended Iredell County schools and on February 14, 1999 he was married to Jill Dishmon Speece, who survives. Mr. Speece was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. He was self employed as a carpenter prior to his disability and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union Grove. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, J.G. and Kirk Speece; three brothers, Bill, Bob and David Speece along with two sisters, Thinie and Josephine. Along with his wife, Mr. Speece is also survived by one son, Bubba "Kenny" Speece (Debbie) of Olin, one daughter, Missy Tomazin (Paul) of New Smyrna Beach, FL, one step-son, Scott Queen (Laura) and step-daughter, Kristy Alexander (Britt), both of Statesville. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. J.R. Speece (Marie) of Union Grove and one sister, Charlotte Starrett (Carroll) of Statesville. Numerous grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. J.R. Speece and Dr. Bobby Henderson officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. There will be a covered dish meal following the graveside services at the home and the family encourages all in attendance to join the family.
