Katie Whitestone

Kate Straubel Whitestone, 61, of Mooresville, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born September 10, 1953, in Bryn Mawr, PA, Kate was the daughter of the late Charles E. Straubel and Ruth O'Bryan. She was a graduate of Philadelphia Dance Academy and received her Bachelors in Fines Arts from the NC School of the Arts. She was formerly married to John Thomas Whitestone and was a member of St. Philips The Apostle Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Whitestone and grandson, William Avery Boone, both of Statesville along with four brothers, Christopher, Mark, Steven, and Andrew Straubel, all of PA. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A gathering of friends honoring Kate Whitestone will be between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 PM Saturday, November 1, 2014, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will be at a later date.
